1991. Kimba the White Lion: Symphonic Poem (japanese version)

This is not a remake of the original episodes, but the story of Kimba (actually, just the first episode of the 1965 TV series) told in a totally different way - completely without words. Instead of it, you can experience a beautiful musical storytelling. The music in this movie is made by Isao Tomita (composer of the musical score/background music for the 1965 TV series) - he made it by rearranging his music from the 1965 TV series. This music was released on LP in 1966 and 1976, and on CD in 1985 and in the 90s, before using it as the music soundtrack for this movie. The pictures in this movie are new and specially made for this music and this occasion.

NOTE: The cover and the year shown above refers to the import from Japan that was for some time available on Right Stuf's website.

Duration: 60 minutes
Produced by: Tezuka Productions, 1991
Where to buy it online? For now it is available only on DVD from Japan, see the Japanese releases section. And, the soundtrack of the Symphonic Poem can be found in the CD releases section.

1993. Kimba the White Lion

capture of the actual opening sequencecapture of the actual opening sequenceThis is the remake of the original 1966 U.S. Kimba episodes. The original episodes are digitally remastered; the crew, the soundtrack and the cast of voices is completely new. The names of characters mostly differ from the ones in the TV series. The title song is written by Paul J. Zaza and Yvonne Murray; the music score is also made by Paul J.Zaza. Kimba fans who watched Kimba in the 1960s and 1970s, and who would like to experience their nicest childhood memories again, should look for the Right Stuf's 2000 "Kimba the white lion" video release and the Right Stuf's 2005 "Kimba the white lion" DVD release!

1998. New Adventures of Kimba the White Lion

Although it was made in Japan from 1988 to 1989 as a remake of and a sequel to the original "Kimba the white lion" series, it didn't have bigger releases until this one. This was Osamu Tezuka's (author of Jungle Emperor - Kimba the white lion) idea of making the completely new Kimba series, which he didn't see finished and released because of his unexpected death in 1989. These 1989 Japanese TV series were on TV in Japan from 1989 to 1990 and in France in 1990. In Japan it is available on DVD, see Japanese releases.

Number of episodes: 13(this video release), 52(original japanese TV series)

Produced by: Tezuka Productions, 1988-1989
Distributed by: Pioneer Entertainment USA, 1998
