This isn't the release of the "Jungle Emperor Leo" movie from 1966, it is the long-awaited U.S. release of the 1997 "Jungle Emperor Leo" movie. As you may know, the story for this movie was taken from the "Go ahead Leo"("Leo the Lion") TV series, which means that here we are talking about Leo(Kimba's name in the original Japanese version), Rya(Kitty's original name), Rune and Rukyo. The DVD contains both subtitled and dubbed versions of the movie.

2006. Kimba The Lion DVD (1993 episodes)

This is yet another release of the 1993 ("Canadian") episodes. The DVD comes in a slim DVD case, and so far there are 6 volumes with 12 episodes in total (only the first 4 volumes are currently available). The picture in these DVDs is slightly better than the one on the DVDs by Genius (although the colors are similarly blown out), while the episode titles are identical to those on the first 2 volumes from Genius Entertainment.

2007. Kimba the White Lion Mini Set

[thanks to Kimba W. Lion for this picture!]Two years after the release of the Ultra Limited DVD-box, Right Stuf has released a "Mini Set" with 5 DVDs containing only the first 26 episodes from the Ultra Limited DVD set, and without any booklet or extras. The only weird thing is that the set can't be found on Right Stuf's website, and Amazon.com mentions Geneon Entertainment as the publisher (note: on Right Stuf's website you can buy some DVD titles released by Geneon).

DVD region encoding: 1 (U.S. and Canada)

2007. Le roi Léo (second french DVD release)

This is the second version of the Le roi Léo DVD-box sets, in which both the 1965 "Jungle Emperor" series and the 1966 "Leo the Lion" episodes, dubbed in french only, are released in 5 sets consisting of 4 DVDs. It appears that this is the 1990 French airing of Leo, which means a pretty good image quality. The first 4 DVD sets were released on August 23, 2007, the 5th DVD set was released on June 19, 2008, and a complete DVD box (limited) with 20 DVDs at a reduced price was released on March 23, 2009.

2008. Jungle Emperor Leo (german DVD release with soundtrack CD)

After the U.S. and the French release, on July 11, 2008 the 1997 "Jungle Emperor Leo" movie has been released on DVD in Germany as well. Just like Right Stuf's english release of the movie, this version also features german dubbing and german subtitles, plus some bonus features like the movie trailer or TV ads. However, this release is special because the soundtrack CD of the movie (elsewhere sold separately) is also included with this DVD, which makes this release a "Collector's Edition".

2010. King Of The Forest (malaysian DVD)

This is the malaysian DVD release of the 2009 Jungle Emperor Leo TV special which, along with the Japanese Audio, has Chinese, Malay and English subtitles. Although the art on the back cover of the DVD box misleads (showing images from the original 1965 Jungle Emperor series), the front cover sugests that this is the DVD release of the 2009 TV special.

The original japanese DVD release is also still avalable.

2013. Kimba the White Lion Complete DVD

8 years after the release of the Ultra Limited Edition DVD box RightStuf has released a re-release of the DVD set on July 9.

This DVD set also features all 52 episodes of the series, it comes in a slim-profile, chipboard collectible box featuring art from the series (also featured on the complete Japanese DVD box), and is available at a lower price. However, because of that it doesn't contain neither the "Extras" DVD not the booklet that came with the 2005 DVD set. So it is something between the Mini Set and the 2005 DVD box, or, it can be called a double Kimba the White Lion Mini Set.

DVD region encoding: 1 (U.S. and Canada)
